Multiplayer
Some of the best experiences I’ve had with Gears is playing it multiplayer via Xbox Live! You can play through the Story with a friend in Coop mode or delve deep into Deathmatch! The Coop mode is pretty fun, particularly on the harder difficulty levels, but it’s not going to be what keeps you coming back for more.
That’s where the Deathmatches come into play. Now Gears of War doesn’t have an intricate Deathmatch setup like you would find in other FPS titles, like Halo 2. It’s never you against the world. There are always two teams. Each side can have between 1 and 4 members. And it’s this team aspect that makes the game so addictive!
One of the coolest parts of team deathmatch is how you can actually save a downed ally. If an ally has been shot to the point that he can’t move, but isn’t yet dead, you can run up to him, tag him, and he’ll be up and at it, healthy as can be! On the flip side, there are some pretty gruesome ways of executing a downed opponent. These methods include shooting, meleeing, chainsawing, grenading, or performing an execution via the, ever famous, Curb Stomp, where you literally break their neck by stomping on it with your boot!
